This whole Clippers story really sums up how ridiculous society in general is. Yea!! Let’s celebrate that a man says (as in words were said, let’s just remember he did not physically harm anybody) racial comments and gets banned for life from the NBA. Considering his track record that has now come out, I seriously doubt his behavior was a surprise to NBA higher ups. But then the word “boycott” gets thrown around and they have to “do something”. Are you people being serious right now..? Do you not see that this was done strictly because the NBA would have lost money??? Hello Mcfly???!!!! They didn’t do the “right” thing. Do you actually think they banned him because of his opinions?? First of all there is a little known constitutional right known as the first amendment giving him freedom of speech. For those of you that can’t follow.. it basically means he can say anything he wants about anybody he wants and it’s his right. Is what he said right?? Hell no! And I don’t agree with him in any manner. Ban him for life from NBA.. I really don’t care about that.. NBA doesn’t want the negative press so they ban him.. ok fine.
What really bothers me is that everyone jumps in on this hate wagon for this guy but how many NBA players have been known to abuse, rape, assault, and even attempt murder on women(this spanning all professional sports) yet fans walk around wearing their jerseys with their name on your back. Physical harm is done but society gives them a pass because they play a sport?!?! Really?? Your talent is to throw a ball around and apparently no rules apply. It’s disgusting seeing everyone celebrate this act and yet ignore all other behavior, women being the most surprising. Hilariously, there are men out there thinking that these women wanted to be with the professional players, they are out looking for money, gold diggers (per Jamie Foxx). I’m not saying that those women are not out there but I know that women don’t want to get beat down, or have to go to the hospital with internal bleeding.. that’s not consensual sex. It’s that type of thinking that is just as ignorant as the owner of the Clippers.
So just to get it straight.. because I want to be clear on this. Having a negative opinion of somebody, whether it race or anything else, is punishable but the abuse of women is fine? Plenty of people know my hatred of Kobe Bryant getting away with sexual assault even after they found blood on his shirt and rape kit evidence and yet the case was dropped. Like she wasn’t bullied in to not testifying so charges were dropped. Jason Kidd arrested and pleaded guilty of domestic abuse. DeShawn Stevenson plead no contest to statutory rape of a 14 yr. old!!! This is just a few NBA players! (there are plenty more) Where are the angry mobs in these matters?!?!?! A 14-year-old child.. (do you really think a child has the ability to cognitively seek out a player for “gold digging”??) NBA just ignores this behavior and why?? Well, clearly the fans are still buying tickets and jerseys so they don’t have to address it. So keep wearing your Lakers gear and making a rapist a millionaire. Make sure you solidify the fact that if you have money you can get away with anything.. except for apparently saying something racial.
Today I’m strolling through my Facebook feed and come across a story that is absolutely ridiculous and disgusting. Basically a “mom” states her family vacation was ruined (ruined.. the whole vacation… ruined) because a Disneyland employee asked her to pull her top up, that she was showing too much skin. Let me just stop here for a second.. The whole family vacation was ruined because of one comment from a person asking you to cover your cleavage at a family park?? If you are that sensitive then perhaps you need to stay home. Already I can smell law suit on this absurd news story. Based on comments in the article they are already setting it up with the statements like she was approached in front of other guests and her children overheard the comment. Yep.. this is where the eye rolling starts. You are at a family park basically for small children (or awesome adults who still enjoy being a kid at heart) you should not be offended that the park cares about how people are dressing, especially as a mom with young daughters.
Read new article here…
Secondly, what I find most disgusting is how they throw in her husband is a Marine just back from deployment. Why is that even a factor in this story?? Was his cleavage out on display?? If he was just out of prison would they mention it? Good job at trying to get sympathy and pulling the military card. Instead of complaining about a simple request from a business, to which they are allowed to do because they are a business and can refuse your service for any reason, you should be celebrating the fact that your husband is home from deployment. There are some wives that don’t get to celebrate that. I’m offended that it was even mentioned in the story.
Thirdly reading all the comments from other women on this article is so insane. No wonder society is a mess. Not only do we seem to think we can do whatever we want, whenever we want without any regard for others but we are SO offended when somebody says something to us about it. Get over yourself! Comments mention that if she was a size 4 then it probably wouldn’t have been an issue. Oh please turn this in to the fact that Disneyland is discriminating against larger people. I happen to bias because I am a Disneyland fan but anybody that has been to Disneyland has witnessed the amount of overweight people trolling around on motorized wheelchairs provided by Disneyland. Clearly Disneyland is not the issue here. And a person that is size 4 probably wouldn’t have a chest as large as this lady and it probably wouldn’t have been a problem. The size 4 person most likely wouldn’t have cleavage.
Basically what is this mom teaching her children? I would be embarrassed if a theme park had to ask me to cover up but I wouldn’t expect the theme park to apologize or expect free tickets. If you don’t like the way they do business then don’t go back. Again, as a business then can refuse you service for any reason they want. It’s their right as a business. Just as it’s your right not to go if you don’t like it. So what I’m really saying is suck it up, grow up and enjoy life instead of trying to get something out of such a small incident where you probably should have been dressed more appropriate anyway.
Up early the next day to be at Universal Studios when it opened. One might wonder why this is necessary and there are actually two reasons. First being that you really do beat the crowds.. most people are either trying to eat breakfast (to which we did not do, note to Universal Stuidos.. having a Starbucks outside the park would be wonderful!) and secondly we had to leave the park by 4pm for a special adventure.
At this point I have had no coffee.. this alone should frighten people but we were on a mission to ride every ride at the park so I had to pull it together. We had to wait just inside the park (I’m still confused why they let us in before the park opens only to have us wait behind another line until the part actually opens) again.. me without coffee.. I don’t know if I can express how important that part is. First we headed straight to Simpson ride with hardly any wait. This ride replaced the Back to the Future ride and despite my utter love for any 80’s movie the Simpson ride is pretty awesome. Next we went to Transformers which was very stimulating (meaning lots going on, fire, speed, transformers) but not my favorite ride. The Mummy is one of my favorites if not my favorite. Very cool twist if you haven’t rode it. By this time coffee is a requirement for my body to function right so we headed over to fulfill my addiction.
Coffee downed with some pastries consumed, I was back in the full swing of things. We headed to the tram studio tour. Some may think “Oh that ride is nothing, you just ride on a tram though random movie sets” while this is true there are a few surprises along the way. I don’t want to ruin the ride for anybody but I will say you end up on a live set that simulates an earthquake in the subway of San Francisco. It’s entertaining but one part I can’t figure is why the subway suddenly floods. Where is this water actually come from? As I happen to live near San Francisco I think this part is overkill and dramatic but I guess that’s Hollywood for you. Anyway.. along with all this commotion a large wave of water comes over the side of the tram and in to my lap!! Needless to say when I got off the tram it looked as though I pissed myself. This worked out well because the next thing we did was the House of Horrors. I could not express this experience in any way except that there was a lot of yelling and screaming with my eyes shut. I literally yelled at a little person dressed up as Chucky. Throw in the profanity from Gemma and I’m sure they found us very amusing to frighten.
Come 3:30 we had conquered the park and ready for the next adventure. A quick change and a small bite to eat we were headed over to Warner Brothers lot to see a taping of Mom. Being a guest of Mrs. Anna Faris has it’s perks, meaning front row seating and a little green bracelet that allows for you to roam the set after filming wraps. Warning: Shameless plug!! If you haven’t watched Mom I would definitely take the time to watch it. Allison Janney and Anna have a great chemistry and the story line is pretty hilarious. After a few drinks and a little celebrating (the show got picked up for a second season) we headed back to the hotel (did you sing it this time??)
Ok.. so I haven’t written in a while. I have good reason though! My best friend was visiting from England and because of that a mini vacation was a must. When a person travels all the way from another country to northern California the best thing to do is to then take a long road trip to southern California! Ok.. so being trapped in the car with me for 5 hours may not be your cup of tea (get it.. nod to the English..come on people!) but we get to catch up and trust me when I say we can talk the WHOLE time. We have taken this trek in the past when heading to Disneyland so we know what to expect along the way. Nothing.. It’s highway 5. Everyone knows you are only going this way because you want to speed when heading to Los Angeles or San Diego.
There are markers along the way so you know exactly how far you have come and how far you still have. First we get to Pea Soup Andersons to which we have never stopped, the ungodly smell of thousands of cows near Harrison Ranch and Teton Ranch which is right before the Grape Vine. For some odd reason we always end up stopping at the same spots without even meaning to. The random oasis of truck stops that appear in this desolate highway seem to call you in. This particular time we ended up stopping at a restaurant that we have passed many times but never ventured in to.
First off the set up is very odd.. there is a store you have to pass through to get to the restaurant that resembles a yard sale. Very odd random items out on display for sale. The restaurant itself seemed ok but maybe a little behind times. The décor was old school children’s lunch pails along the walls. Service was good and food was decent so in all it was a win. Plus bathrooms were clean and no line! We took a small drive across the street to the “country store” to buy overpriced everything. We needed snacks for the rest of the trip!
We finally got in to Universal City for our stay at the fancy Sheraton. Why the Sheraton? Well because it’s within walking distance to Universal Studios and City Walk. After dropping off the luggage and quick “Austin Powers’ type” restroom stop we headed over to City Walk to eat at none other than Bubba Gump’s. We had to eat there because my friend has waited years to be reunited with their coconut shrimp. Of course after a long drive there was some partaking in alcoholic beverages. After dinner we perused (see Chrissie I keep using it) the remaining shops for trinkets (bits and bobs if you are English). It had been a long day and we had yet another one ahead of us the next day so we soon headed back to the hotel (you should have sung that like the song from N2Deep… you are probably singing it now). Day 2 coming soon.. a very exciting day!
Has anybody seen this PSA on banning the word bossy? As I type I’m trying to refrain from rolling my eyes (nope, it still happened, I really can’t control that). What the hell is wrong with people? Stop trying to tell me what words I should and shouldn’t use. I will not stop using the word bossy because Beyoncé said I should.. Really.. How about stop using the word bitch in your songs if you really want people to take you seriously. Isn’t that a more offensive word? Wait, is that different because you are musically expressing yourself? I’m confused, so we can express ourselves only in ways that make you money. I digress.. My main point is that calling a girl bossy does not hinder her success in life, how she is raised and what family environment she is raised in does.
watch Ban Bossy PSA here..
A word only has as much power as you want to give it. Guess what, if somebody; a man, women or child is being bossy then I will call them bossy. The problem society is creating is that these younger generations are so offended by everything and thin-skinned they can’t even take criticism. Not that bossy is criticism but we take away bossy, then suddenly I can’t call somebody “rude” because it hurts somebody’s feelings. (another eye roll here) The same parents that complain about this type of stuff are the same parents that complain about the school systems. These are the same parents that are calling their kids offensive names in the same sentence. How does that make any sense? Children are a product of their parents, period. If the parent refuses to take responsibility for that and wants to blame society, the schools/teacher, video games or anything else then clearly they are the issue. Guess what, you are the one that isn’t building them up to be able to handle reality of how people really are and then what happens when they go out in to the real world. They can’t handle it!
I understand the message they are trying to relay but banning bossy isn’t the solution. How about banning Miley Cyrus (makes money by acting a fool, smoking pot and lewd behavior despite her amazing singing voice) or Kim Kardashian (made a sex tape..yep.. that’s it) I wish these stars would stop trying to put out these PSA’s and maybe spend a little more effort in what they are putting out there in the world. I’ve got an idea.. why don’t we have Justin Bieber put out a PSA advising people to stop calling exotic dancers strippers because it hurts their feelings.. At least that he’s done the field work.
I have a confession to make.. I watch Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. I can imagine all the eyes rolling and the instant judgments being made about me. Before you disregard all intelligence you may have thought I had can you first just let me explain. There are so many reality shows Teen Mom to Hoarders to #RichKids of Beverly Hills. Considering all that we have to choose from when sitting on the couch going comatose why would I chose a show like Honey Boo Boo? I have a few reasons but I’m going to need you to look at the whole picture and not be so judgey (honestly, you are probably super judgey, most likely judging yourself for even reading this)
Here’s where I need you to be open-minded and try to see through the façade that writers of these shows try to create. One special aspect that Honey Boo Boo doesn’t have that every other show thrives on is drama. Of course there is conflict as everything meant to entertain has some sort of conflict but their conflict doesn’t involve screaming, throwing drinks or flipping tables, or any physical altercations. When it comes to reality theirs is actual common family conflict rather than catty women taking shit behind each other’s back because one thinks she is somehow better than any of the other women.
Also June and Sugar Bear appear to really care about each other. It seems genuine which is a rarity on television these days. Also they aren’t people that are rich and they live a seemingly typical life (granted a country lifestyle but let’s be honest, you are probably closer to living like Honey Boo Boo than you are to living like a Kardashian)
Here’s what I ask myself.. would I rather watch a family that’s normal and could actually use the money they make by me watching their show or should I invest my time watching an already rich family get richer and their biggest problem is the dealership didn’t have a black Bugatti? What has Kim Kardashian (or any of the Kardashians) really brought to the world? Nothing that makes the world any better (sex tape included). Team Mom glamorizes teen pregnancies, #RichKids is a disgusting display of young adults with no responsibility and no sense of reality of the what the real world is like. So with all of this, I proudly announce to all of you.. Yes, I watch Here Comes Honey Boo Boo!
I’ve learned that the way that I think isn’t always the “norm”. Recently I learned my niece was lucky enough to inherit my obscure thought process and I beamed with pride! Though people might see it strange, I tend to see things a little differently. I can’t explain why or how the way I think is just a little off but I quite like my unique view of the world.
The other day a co-worked said he had a video for me to watch because he knew I was an animal lover. His synopsis of the video was as follows: amazon otters kill an alligator. Immediate I questioned this wondering exactly how the heck an otter could attempt such a feat because they have to use rocks or other hard objects to break open shell fish. An alligator is no shell fish and their skin is extremely hard to penetrate. Then I wondered if the otters bit the alligators to death, they are carnivores after all. And what the hell is an amazon otter? This led me to of course watch the video.
Giant otters vs alligator
This is where I know things go a little awry in my head. Most people would be amazed that these otters take down this ‘gator. They work together to kill this intruder and protect their turf. I was horrified! Why, you say? Because they kill an alligator. Poor alligator. How it works in my head. First of all, the alligator was doing what alligators do naturally, looking for food. Granted he got a little too close to the home of the otters and this is why they attacked. But the alligator didn’t attack any of the otters, he didn’t try and eat anything, he just got too close for their liking. This is not grounds for killing!!! There is a moment in the video where you see one of the otters look at the camera and he looks pure evil. The otters could have simply roughed the alligator up a bit and sent him on his way. Was it necessary to kill it though? What if the alligator had babies it was trying to feed? Now they die too. Please don’t respond to this by saying this is just the circle of life, how nature works blah blah.. I don’t want to hear it. I am unimpressed with the behavior of these otters and they have moved to my list of things I am unimpressed with.
Tonight I ate at possibly the loudest restaurant in the world. I’m not sure how to prove that or if it can even be measured because it’s possible that it was only loudest during the exact time I was there. Anyway, you walk in and there is music blaring not only when you walk in doors but in the parking lot as well. This place doesn’t take reservations so there are generally at least 20 people standing around waiting to be summoned to be shown to a table. While waiting you are free to thrust your hands in a large barrel of peanuts that you can enjoy, then toss the shells on the floor. It’s all part of the ambiance. Because the music is so loud people have to talk at higher volume so when the hostess walks us to our table asking us questions I can’t even hear her, so I just nodded blankly and hope I just didn’t agree to something horrific like “are we celebrating anything today” because that will mean a ridiculous song and more loud yelling from all the employees over the already loudly playing music. As we are sitting there attempting to have a serious conversation, the loud music gets louder and all the available staff starts line dancing in the middle of the restaurant floor. Seems odd because I would think that people would rather have the staff working the tables than line dancing for 3 minutes but what do I know. Finally, during our dinner we had to endure three birthday celebrations around us. This ritual involved sitting on a saddle, waving a napkin over your head whilst your waiter/waitress yells through the restaurant to give a loud “YeeHaw” . It might be more entertaining if the music wasn’t so overpowering but again I’m sure it’s all part of the experience of this particular restaurant. I’m sure people that love this place tend to be the same people that like to drown out their own thoughts. What I will say is their food is excellent but who goes to the loudest restaurant to enjoy the food?
Granted as I type this I am lounging on my couch sporting pj pants and a hoodie but watching the red carpet Oscar preview show is a little ridiculous. Are we really going to pretend that Pharrell is ahead of his time wearing those short pants? This is the Oscars not the Teen Choice Awards. So my opinion means as much to Pharrell as well.. lets me honest, my opinion bears no weight with Pharrell but it doesn’t make those shorts any less ludicrous. The Oscars are a more classically up scaled event and not the place to show your outlandish style. Also, Pharrell said in a statement that he was not going to sport the hat that caused such a media frenzy from the Grammy’s and yet he wore same style but different color hat for his performance at the Oscars. Perhaps he is taking a nod from Miley in ridiculous gets you in the news and any media attention is good right? I’m over musicians acting out for media attention, it takes away from their music and Pharrell is a very talented musician. There are many very talented and very successful musicians that have made it in the business without acting a fool.
